Small business owners have to make sure that they're getting the most value out of every dollar they spend, especially when it comes to subscriptions. Canva Pro, in my opinion, is well worth the cost because it saves time and can help you do so much more with your marketing.
For those of you who may not know, Canva is a fantastic online and/or app-based graphic designer that has a wide variety of pre-built templates for just about all of your graphic design needs. For example, if you want to create a flyer, you can choose one of Canva’s pre-built templates for flyers and tailor it to your needs by replacing the image, colors, and text.
Even though we use Photoshop and all of the other professional Adobe products, Canva Pro is still an invaluable tool that makes designing online marketing materials simple and quick. And no, I am not getting anything from Canva to write this, I just think it's an important tool!
Features I Love in Canva Pro
- Canva Pro gives you the ability to resize your design without having to redo it. With the free version of Canva, you can use a template to design your Facebook post, for example, but if you want to resize it to use as a Facebook Story, you’d have to start over. However, in Canva Pro there’s a magic resize button that resizes your design to fit all the top social media and marketing sizes. It's amazing! In a matter of minutes, you’ve designed six or seven different sizes of social media images for your promotion, and it didn’t have to take you hours to do!
- Canva Pro offers a lot of premium layouts, pre-built text templates, and a large selection of stock images. You can use the free ones, and that’s fine, but eventually, your graphics are going to get repetitive with using the same templates over and over. Upgrade to Canva Pro to gain access to premium templates, graphic elements, and stock photos to keep your marketing materials fresh and exciting.
- Canva Pro allows you to set up a Brand Kit. A Brand Kit allows you to organize and customize the colors, logos, and fonts used to create your brand’s visual identity. Setting up your Brand Kit makes it easy to maintain a consistent look in all of the images you create by setting your chosen fonts and colors as default settings. If you have certain styles that you always use for certain promotions or products, you can save those custom fonts, colors, and logos in separate Brand Kits. This is yet another great feature of Canva Pro that will save you tons of precious time!
- Canva Pro makes collaborating with other team members easy. When you collaborate with a team (or hire a designer from Fiverr) to create branded images for your business, it's important to have a way to organize and access your files. Using a shared home for your designs allows you to stay organized and be consistent in your designs by using team templates and design folders. There's also a new commenting feature that allows you to give feedback about what you like or don't like to help get the design just right.
I love sharing helpful, time-saving tips!
I am not a salesperson for Canva, nor am I getting any kind of kickback for promoting this product whatsoever. I've just been using it for about two years now, and it’s saved me tons of time, energy, and money.
But I didn't even get to the best part!
Stay tuned for next week’s edition of Brown Bag Marketing Bits as I talk about my absolute favorite feature of Canva Pro and how I think it can boost your marketing success!
